My round 4 entry for Wyrd’s Iron Painter 2016.
Round 4’s theme for the competition was ‘Armed and dangerous’ which almost instantly gave me the idea I ran with. Wanting to create a more sceneic piece I decided to model Willie running out of a mine escaping the scene of his crime.
I love the Willie model so this was a great excuse to paint him up with no conversions needed. Modelling the mine entrance took me a few attempts but in the end it was simple enough to do.
I had great fun painting this guy up as he has so much character to him and there’s some great little details on the model. I decided to give him some sailor style tattoos and whilst they’re maybe not the clearest I was pretty happy with how they came out.
The hard work paid off as he was actually my highest scoring entry which also meant I clung onto my silver status for another round.
