My round 1 entry for Wyrd’s Iron Painter 2016.
The theme for round 1 was ‘Pretty in pink’ and after a quick discussion with a friend of mine we devised the idea of putting Teddy in a dress.
With just 2 weeks for each round this was a hell of a slog. Having never sculpted anything similar before I was pretty much making this up as I went along.
In all I’d say the sculpting process took me around 25 hours in total but I was super happy with the results. Had I had a bit more time I would have like to add a little bow on his head to complete the look.
Painting wise this cute little fella took me around another 25 to 30 hours to finish. His fur and features were easy enough to do but most of the time was sunk into his dress and layering up that pink. I also remembered just how much I hate painting whites and creams!
Overall I scored pretty high and came in 13th for round 1 which bagged me a spot in the gold tier. Not a bad start to the contest at all and it certainly felt like a good pay off for the 50+ hours I’d just invested.
